Original de la portada de Justice League #3 obra de Maguire, y comparativa con el original de la portada alternativa... ¡Sí, hubo una!
¡Ha sido toda una sorpresa descubrir el original de la portada alternativa en la galería del CAF de Ken Danker! ¡No tenía ni idea de que en aquella época ya se hiciera lo que es una práctica habitual en la actualidad! El original de la portada principal pertenece a Stephen Donnelly.

Hay una historia detrás de esa portada. Como de memoria no me acuerdo de ella, tiro de un número antiguo de la revista Wizard para recordarla... déjame que rebusque por aquí... ah! sí!... aquí está. En el Wizard Zero! :-)
El artículo se llama "DC Test Logos", y voy a pegarme la matada de escribirlo entero (menos mal que es cortito) ;-)
Ahí va:
"Did you ever notice an issue of Firestorm the Nuclear Man or Justice League that didn't look like what you remembered? What you probably saw was an example of the DC Test Logo program.
Back in 1987, DC Comics felt that their newsstand sales were kind of flat. As an experiment, it used a simpler and cleaner cover design hoping to increase sales by replacing the traditional DC Bullet with a new colorful Superman logo. For issues or Firestorm and Justice League, new covers with simplified art were commissioned. The test ran in several metropolitan markets unannounded. The result?
"The only thing we proved was that we could move sales from the direct market to the newsstand", said Bob Wayne, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DC Comics.
Collectors who normally bought their comics at comic shops bought them at the newsstand instead on the assumption that these variants would be more valuable. Years later they would be proven rigth, but this "robbing Peter to pay Paul" scenario didn't sit well with DC, so the program was scuttled".
